Virtuozzo HCI Solution Adds Support for AMD 2nd Gen Processors, Further Enhances Partnership with DIAWAY to Deliver Unprecedented Performance

Tallinn, Estonia – April 28, 2020 Virtuozzo and DIAWAY have introduced an HCI appliance built with AMD 2nd GEN processors that unleashes unprecedented performance at low TCO. The DIAWAY appliance with built-in Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform provides an all-in-one hyperconverged solution that supports multiple service provider and enterprise use cases, and is designed by Techonomics™ experts at DIAWAY with an optimum price performance ratio.

According to IDC Research, the total global converged systems market is worth $4.2B, the hyperconverged systems segment is the fastest growing segment of this market, experiencing >17% year-over-year growth. To meet this demand, Virtuozzo and DIAWAY worked closely to create new optimized storage solutions that increase overall performance, and expect that the joint appliance will cater to different audiences from SMB to large organizations, data centers, and service providers capitalizing on the HCI trend.

“We are excited to expand our long-standing partnership with DIAWAY, to leverage their expertise in maximizing performance in hardware configuration, enabling significant cost and performance benefits to customers. Adding support for AMD processors is an important feature enhancement we are happy to extend to customers, it broadens the benefits of this partnership”, said Alex Fine, Virtuozzo’s CEO.

Dmitrii Liautov, Managing Partner at DIAWAY OÜ remarks: “DIAWAY’s experts designed the most efficient specification for this appliance, providing our clients an affordable, yet top performing, modern platform. We are happy to expand our long-standing partnership with Virtuozzo to bring new technologies, hardware optimization and infrastructure solutions to our customers.”

AMD EPYC™ 7002 Generation Processors are expected to deliver up to 2X the performance-per socket1 and up to 4X peak FLOPS per-socket2 over AMD EPYC™ 7001 Series Processors.

Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform appliance ships as a 2U four-node appliance, each node equipped with the following key features:

  1. 2x AMD EPYC™ Rome 7302 16-Core 3.0 GHz processors;
  2. 256GB/512GB/1024GB DDR4 2933Mhz/3200Mhz RAM;

1 Testing performed by AMD Engineering as of October 2018 using AMD reference system with a preproduction “Rome” engineering sample, where “Rome” scored approximately 2x higher compared to “Naples” System. Actual results with production silicon may vary.
2 Estimated generational increase based upon AMD internal design specifications for “Zen 2” compared to “Zen”. “Zen 2” has 2X the core density of “Zen”, and when multiplied by 2X peak FLOPs per core, at the same frequency, results in 4X the FLOPs in throughput. Actual results with production silicon may vary.
